General Info for Athletes

Athletic Handbook

With the start of each school year we ask that student athletes and parents read the Athletic Handbook carefully. Page 1 is a signature page. Have your son or daughter return this page with the required signatures to his/her coach as soon as possible. If you have any questions please call.

Participation Fees

The Sports participation fee at Holy Cross High School is $150.00 per individual.
The fee must be submitted to the team coach or liaison before the first contest.
Those who do not submit this fee will not be eligible to participate in games.

Sports Physical

Each year prior to participating in any KHSAA sanctioned sport, all athletes must have a current physical on file.

If you are an athlete with asthma you must also complete this Asthma Form.

St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine

St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine will be offering our annual pre-participation physical examinations for the 2015-2016 school year during the months of June and July.  Physicals will be held at our offices located at 830 Thomas More Parkway, Edgewood, KY and at 10095 Investment Way, Florence, KY. Please note that physicals will be offered at $25.00 throughout the year. However, during the summer period with such a high volume of physicals, summer appointments will fill quickly since space is limited.

ImPACT Testing

ImPACT testing is MANDATORY for Cheer, Football, Soccer and Volleyball. It is optional for Cross Country and Golf.
St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine will also be offering ImPACT™ baseline neuropsychological testing to our athletes. On May 30 thru June 2 this service is FREE to HC athletes. Impact May 30th, June 1st and June 2nd and is mandatory for Cheer, Football, Soccer, Baseball, Fastpitch, Volleyball, but all athletes can participate. On these dates only the tests will be performed at Holy Cross. If you cannot make these dates, the test will cost $25 at St. Elizabeth. If an athlete should suffer a concussion, this baseline test can be a great tool in proper management of the concussion.

Certified Trainer

Tyler Watson is a Certified Athletic Trainer from Commonwealth St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine who will be providing the sports medicine coverage at Holy Cross High School. Their center has been providing this free service to Holy Cross for the last 15 years.

Injury Clinic Information

St. Elizabeth Sports Medicine will once again have Saturday Morning Clinic through the fall sports season. The clinic is intended for athletes that are injured on Friday nights and have injuries that can not wait till Monday. Click here for more details.

“Dead” Period

As declared by the KHSAA, the “Dead” Period is a time during the summer when there is to be NO high school related games or practice sessions and NO contact between the high school coaches and their athletes. The KHSAA Dead Period is normally the last week of June and the first week of July. This period has been extended an additional week for schools under the Diocese of Covington.
